* The Special Effect *

Ciaooo!!!

I am bacckkk... :D
well, today i'll be continuing my next task as usual..still in the online class, Photoshop technique for today is " The Special Effect ". Just so u know guys, I will do my job today under an option called Filter, so i gotta do special effect on the image by finding it on Filter, they have varieties of amazing effects.

This is the image i picked from 3 images that the lecturer has been given us to choose..

I'll go through the steps to get the special effects as i wanted.., follow me!! :p

1. I apply Lens Blur, Filter -> Blur -> Lens Blur. The following are the option for the boxes ; Faster -> Transparency -> Blur Focal Distance '200' -> Iris 'Square' -> Radius '20' -> Blade curavture '0' -> Rotation '50' -> Brightness '15' -> Threshold '255' -> Noise '0' -> Uniform. See below picture.

2. Choose Artistic -> Paint Daubs. Brush size '3' -> Sharpness '0' -> Dark rough.

3. Pick Artistic -> Film Grain. Fill in only 4 the Intensity, and 0 for the rest.

4. Choose Magnetic Lasso Tool to select the flower part only. Next..copy the part to a new layer.

5.Do Gradient as the image show below. Put 20 for the opacity, and do it for few times until it reaches the color u expect.

6. Edit the layer of a flower part only with Film Grain -> Grain '2' -> Highlight Area '1' -> Intensity '1'. Adding the Brightness and Contrast, Layer -> Adjustment Layer -> Brightness and Conrast -> Brightness '15' -> Contrast -> '25'. Make the a layer of the flower part invisible now.

7. Its Done. This is my final work.

Stay tuned.... :D

- The Assignment 1 -

Holaa, there it is...i am stepping into a harder task which is an assignment 1 for the subject, so..what I have to do is creating a digital image as a wallpaper, in the other word i am going to make something like a poster, the theme/event is MMU FOM Open Day dated March 21, 2010. The poster will be showing the characteristics or features of FOM to advertise and to promote their faculty.
These are grading for the assignment :
1. For the idea and message
2. For the use of tools
3. For the quality of the digital image
4. For the creative / imaginative / design of the wall paper

Some requirements :
1. The image / wall paper show focus on the positive aspect on the Faculty. Use photographs ( your own ) or images on the net. Use Photoshop to create the most attractive wall paper of the faculty with colours as well as at the highest and most professional quality possible.
2. NO PRINTOUT necessary. No late submissions. Any late submissions, you will be severely penalise and will get a 0, etc.

Well.., the idea popped out into my mind when I was in the cinema, i thought of making my faculty poster open day will be a bit different because i'll refer to a movie poster and I think a movie poster is made to be really attractive, and its cool! :)
Even though the movie that I referred to was a cartoon, it doesn't mean that I am going to take it as a whole concept, I was taking it only for some simple ideas of my work.

These are all of the steps in the process of making my poster.

1. Create a new document sized to 600px x 800px. Unlock the background layer and fill it with a dark blue color (#091417).

2. Create a new layer, fill it with black, and change the Blend Mode to Color Dodge. Then go to Filter > Render > Fibers. I use 16 for Variance and 4 for Strength.

3. After that, duplicate that layer and move it to the left, I will have two layers, one next to the other. Select both layers, surely that the layers are aligned from the top, and go to Layer > Merge Layers.

4. Go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur, use 10 pixels for the Radius. After that go to Filter > Artistic > Plastic. For the Highlight Strength use 5, and for the Detail and Smoothness use 15.

5. Rotate the layer, say 45ยบ, and Edit > Transform > Warp. Image below for reference.

5. Now let's add more blur. Go to Filter > Blur > Radial Blur. Let say 72 for the Amount. The Blur Method will be Zoom and the Best Quality.

6. Go to Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Brightness/Contrast. Place the adjustment layer above the light's layer. I use 80% for Brightness and 100% for Contrast.

7. Select the Color Dodge Tool (O). Pick a large brush, 175px Master Diameter, and Hardness 0%. I choose Highlights for the Range, and use 10% for exposure.
Now, just start painting over some areas to highlight them, mainly the brighter area, because the idea here is to intensify the rays of light.
You can select the Burn Tool (O) to burn some areas too. That means if you want to make some areas darker use this tool, it's exactly the opposite of the Color Dodge Tool.

8. Now select the Polygonal Lasso Tool(L) and create a selection like the image below. Then select the Burn Tool and as the brush is really big, it's not necessary to paint directly over the selection, so paint far from the edges just to create a little shadow in the area.

9. Repeat Step 7 and 8 a couple of times until it looks OK.

10. Create a new layer above all of them. Fill it with black, and go to Filter > Noise > Add Noise. Use for the Amount 10%, for the Distribution use Gaussian, and select Monochromatic.

11. Create a new layer inside the "lights" layer. Select the Brush Tool (B), and go to View > Brushes to change some of the brush settings. After that, just paint some sparks over the image.

12. This is a finishing background.

To be continued with inserting some objects and words....

13. Pick Text > Choose Font " Arial " > Put it at the top " MULTIMEDIA UNIVERSITY " > Effects Drop Shadow.

14. Write a MMU motto by Font " Courier ".

15. Putting MMU logo in the middle , and continued by FOM OPEN DAY, MMU mascot, TM logo, etc. Sentences effects are the same thing applied as step no.13 .

16. DONE. :)

YEAY!! Submitted Work... :)
